TracePro 7.0
Further Information
Licensing
To support the 64-bit Version of TracePro 6.0, it was necessary that the licensing for TracePro 6.0 be changed. Since Network Licenses will now make use of a hardware key, the terminology for the two license types has also changed. The highlights of the TracePro 6.0 licensing changes are as follows:
- Network License
- Hardware Key connected to Server
- TracePro users enter ServerName in TracePro License dialog
- License File is no longer required, the licensing info is programmed into the key
- Key is portable, can be moved to any PC on the network, then users just enter the new ServerName
- Lambda Research will be shipping a USB-type Hardware Key to each licensee, and that key will already be programmed with your TracePro 6.0 license info.
- Single-computer Licenses
- TracePro User runs a Utility program to obtain a “Locking Code”
- Lambda Research Licensing Department sends back a License file
- TracePro User runs utility again to reprogram the key with that license file
- License Code is no longer required, the licensing info is programmed into the key, so when key is moved to another PC and TracePro is launched, it just works.
Monte Carlo Ray Tracing
TracePro can be used for any application where distributions and intensities of light must be accurately determined. Its Monte Carlo raytrace allows accurate analysis of any geometry. In Monte Carlo raytracing, scattering and diffraction are treated as random processes. Instead of propagating a distribution of light, discrete samples of the distribution, or rays, are propagated with BSDFs used as probability distributions for determining ray directions.
Easy-to-Use Windows Graphical User Interface
TracePro runs under Windows and features a graphical user interface with familiar Windows menus, dialog boxes, and toolbars, and databases of material properties and surface properties. TracePro's multiple document/multiple view architecture lets you work on more than one model at once, and more than one view of each model. You can use standard Windows editing features including Cut, Copy, and Paste. Visualising data is truly interactive, with real-time zoom, pan, and rotate. Special features like Display Object, Object Color, and the System Tree let the user tailor the visualisation for complicated models. Special features for stray light analysis include importance sampling and ray path sorting. The user can build a solid model by importing data from a CAD program or a lens design program, or by creating objects within TracePro. The Insert menu lets the user creates lenses and mirrors, tubes, baffle vanes, Fresnel lenses, and a wide variety of reflectors and concentrators. TracePro’s Surface Source feature allows any surface to become a source of light.
Powerful editing features like Move, Rotate, Scale, Move Copy, Rotate Copy, and Scale Copy let you create arrays of objects easily with just a few mouse clicks. Using Surface Sweep and Surface Revolve, you can create tapered light pipes.
ACIS Kernel Provides Interoperability and Versatility
Because TracePro is based on ACIS, any shape defined in a solid modeling program can be raytraced in TracePro, including NURBS surfaces. TracePro shares the ACIS data format with other ACIS-based applications, allowing a smooth two-way exchange of solid modeling data with AutoCAD, for example. The rapidly-growing list of applications based on ACIS or compatible with ACIS can be found on the Spatial web site. Solid models can be imported from non-ACIS-based solid modeling software using the IGES, STEP, or VDAFS data interchange standards. TracePro also includes powerful options for importing optical design data from popular optical design software including ACCOS V, CODE V, OSLO, Sigma, and ZEMAX, to create true, accurate solid models of lenses with no loss of fidelity.
TracePro is used in a variety of analysis applications including: Automotive, Aerospace, Display, Lighting, Medical, Laser Component, Machine Vision and Consumer Electronics.
Four Editions for your Needs and Budget
TracePro comes in four editions to match your needs and budget. Each edition is a subset of the next, and upgrading is simply a matter of paying the price difference. The different editions are arranged as a tier of subsets. TracePro RC is a subset of LC, LC is a subset of Standard, and Standard is a subset of Expert. The differences between the editions are noted in the FAQ section of this page, under Support.
Maintenance and Support
All Licenses include Maintenance and Support for 1 year which includes updates and technical support.
