Installation Instructions

  1. After downloading, run the executable to install the Tecplot 360 evaluation copy on your computer.
  2. Please contact Hearne for a copy of the license file.

IMPORTANT - WINDOWS VISTA USERS: If you are installing Tecplot 360 on a system running Windows Vista, you must have administrator privileges for your system during the install. To do this, either log in as a user with Administrator privileges, or run the Tecplot 360 installation by right-clicking on the executable and selecting "run as administrator".

  1. This downloads Tecplot360.dmg, a disk image file. A new disk labeled Tecplot 360 should appear on your desktop.
  2. If not, double-click on Tecplot360.dmg to mount the disk.
  3. Then double-click on the disk to open it, and double-click on the Tecplot 360 Install icon.

notes:
  1. If you did not install X 11 when you installed your operating system, you will need to install it in order to run Tecplot 360.
    2. Mac 10.3 users can download X11 from Apple's WebsiteMac OS 10.4 users can install X11 using the Tiger installer disk.
  2. Use the evaluation key included in the e-mail to unlock Tecplot 360 and be able to load your own data.

Installation Instructions

  1. Save the file to a temporary directory (e.g., /tmp)
  2. Unpack the archive:
    cd /tmp; tar zxf linux.tgz
  3. Run the setup script:
    cd linux ; ./setup
  4. When prompted, please choose option 1 - 'Install Tecplot'
  5. Type "accept" to accept the license agreement.
  6. The setup script will identify which architecture. If you have questions or problems, please contact customer support.
  7. When prompted, choose "E" for the evaluation license and choose an installation path (e.g., /usr/local/tecplot)
  8. Set up your environment variables:
    export TEC_360_2009=/usr/local/tecplot
    export PATH=${PATH}:${TEC_360_2009}/bin
  9. Copy the evaluation key into the Tecplot home directory.
    cp tecplotlm.lic $TEC_360_2009
  10. To run Tecplot type:
    tec360
