Strater 3

Additional Features

Data Tables with Improved Functionality

Increase your efficiency with the easily accessible data tables. Now data tables are individually tabbed documents you can click on to quickly view the contents. Data tables simplify your tasks by operating like Excel worksheets with intuitive functions. New functions include:

  • Find/Replace
  • Format Cells
  • Transform Calculations
  • Sort
  • Copy/Paste Multiple Cells
  • Convert Text to Numbers and Vice Versa
  • Hole ID Renaming
  • Statistics

Display Multiple Boreholes in the Borehole View

Multiple boreholes can now be displayed in the borehole view enabling you to visually compare the subsurface data for an unlimited number of boreholes. Each log has an ID filter option in the Property Manager, where you specify the hole for each individual log to display.

Create Legends for Schemes

Save time by automatically creating legends. A legend may be positioned in anywhere in any pane and its appearance modified for the best visual effect.

Add Objects to the Log Pane

Quickly add objects to the log pane by drawing, importing, or copying and pasting — a great way to highlight important findings or document special circumstances. You can copy and paste almost any object, including text or data from Microsoft Word or Excel files or logs from other Strater projects, directly into the log pane.

Line/Symbol Log Enhancements

Line/symbol logs are enhanced to show exactly what you want with these new log properties:

  • Discontinuous Logs: Set the line properties to be discontinuous in areas where there are missing data.
  • Cutoff Fill: Set the cutoff value and cutoff fill properties and direction for line or symbol logs.
  • Text Labels: Label the points on a line\symbol log.

Opacity

Make some parts of your logs partially transparent so you can see additional data beneath them. Strater enables you to make fill, line, symbol, and text properties transparent in percentage increments of opacity from 0% to 100%.

Text Labels on Percentage Logs

Communicate more information with your percentage logs. Add text labels to quickly see the exact percentage of each item in the log.

Improved Label Formatting

Make your labels easy to read and convey the information you want. New formatting options allow you to change the label layout and the formatting style. Format numeric labels by setting the number of decimal digits or adding a suffix or prefix.

Zoom View Options

Check your log details close up with the new zoom view options:

  • Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of the borehole view.
  • You can also zoom to the width of an object by holding the Ctrl key down and selecting View | Zoom | Selected.
  • Zoom in the borehole view to the width of the pane by holding the Ctrl key down and selecting View | Fit Pane to Window.

Tabs for the Windows

The borehole view and data table windows are displayed as easily accessible tabbed documents. When more than one window is open, tabs appear at the top of the screen, allowing you to simply click on a tab to switch the view to that window. Easily change the order of the tabs with a single mouse click.

Tabs in the Property Manager

Display the Property Manager sections as an array of tabs.

New Sample Files and Sample Schemes

Save time by using one of the many new pre-defined scheme files or new sample template files to design your logs.

New Fill Patterns

Strater 2 includes new fill patterns to quickly customize your logs.

Complex Text Log Enhancements

Take advantage of the display enhancements for complex text logs:

  • Rotate text.
  • Merge intervals with the same content.
  • Repeat text for those text blocks straddling page breaks.
  • Edit bracket line properties separately from separator line properties.

Keyword and Lithology Scheme Conversion

In the Scheme Editor, you can quickly convert a keyword scheme to a lithology scheme and vice versa with one command.

Improved Scaling Options

Scale your logs with the improved scaling options:

  • Scale in Collars Table: Set the scaling value via the Collars table to define the scale and starting/ending borehole depths.
  • User-Defined Scale with Automatic or Collars Depth Setting: Set the Scaling Depth Per Inch (or Centimeter) value when the Depth Settings is set to Collars Table or Automatic. This allows the Starting and Ending Borehole Depths to be automatically adjusted, but the scale remains fixed.
  • Relative Scaling: Set the scale of the borehole view to be relative (for example 1:2500).

The scale for each log is also updated appropriately when using the Print Multiple Logs command.

Template Improvements

Utilize the improved templates, which now store all data tables, view information, and schemes from your original project. Templates can be saved from the active mode. Load and save templates easier by going to File | Open and File | Save.

Additional Usability Enhancements

  • Customize your work environment with your preferred buttons, commands, keyboard shortcuts, menus, options, and tool bars using the new Tools | Customize command.
  • Show current page in status bar.
  • Quickly reload all data in all data tables with one command, File | Reload All.
  • Use an unlimited number of items in a scheme.
  • Repeat tick labels on depth logs straddling a page break.
  • The scale bar title has been changed to be a property of the scale bar object. The title stays with the scale bar as you move it.
  • Automatically scale individual text labels to fit in each interval in a zone bar, bar, lithology, or a percentage log if the percentage log is based on an interval table. Simply use the Fit Label to Block option in the Show Label section of the Property Manager.
  • New import file formats: XLSX and ACCDB data files, and ECW and SID into the borehole view.
  • Expanded export format options: PDF (vector) and AutoCAD DXF 2004.
  • Click off the page to deselect all and display the borehole view properties in the Properties Manager.
  • Remove the data source for a data table.
  • Pan with the mouse wheel.
