SigmaPlot 2000 - new millennium release
30 March, 2002
Major upgrade combines new technology with even more graphics
Providing a whole new set of tools for scientists and engineers, SPSS Science is making it easier for users to present their findings more accurately with SigmaPlot 2000. This upgrade brings more graph types and additional data analysis and presentation tools, enabling users to present their data exactly the way they want with precise, publication-quality graphs. Also new is the Electrophysiology Module, an add-on product that makes it possible for biomedical researchers and life scientists to directly import electrophysiology data into SigmaPlot 2000. The software is expected to ship in early March worldwide.
"This release is a well-rounded, major upgrade for SigmaPlot," said Joel York, general manager of SPSS Science. "The new tools we've added, combined with built-in access to the latest MS technologies, reinforce SigmaPlot's position as a market leader in the technical graphing category. Our users now have what they need to present their work anywhere."
New features in the software include:
- More graph types - choose from a greater selection of graphs to convey exact scientific ideas. Users can now compute and graph a wide range of errors including graphs with asymmetric error bars, range plots, quartile plots and high-low-close plots. SigmaPlot also provides colorful filled 2D contour plots and 3D waterfall plots for users to visualize their 3D data.
- More data analysis capabilities - get the most value from data with additional analytics, including the new Quick Transforms feature for mathematical data transformations without programming, the improved Function Plotter to plot user-defined and parametrized equations and new robust smoothing routines for 2D and 3D data.
- More presentation tools - communicate ideas clearly and quickly with built-in page layout templates. The templates provide the ability to instantly arrange multiple graphs on a page, disseminate work on the Web or Intranet with new HTML output macro or create stunning presentations in no time with the new Create PowerPoint Slide built-in macro. SigmaPlot also includes new export filters to enable customers to export raster EPS and CMYK TIFF files in 24-bit color and super-high resolution.
- Compatibility with the latest technology -- SigmaPlot 2000 is compliant with Office 2000 and Windows 2000, giving users access to the most current technology from within SigmaPlot.
SigmaPlot is used in a wide range of fields, including medicine, life sciences, chemistry, engineering, environmental science and physics. The new add-on Electrophysiology Module is of particular interest to neuroscientists. This new add-on makes it possible for users to directly import data from instruments, such as Axon and HEKA.
SigmaPlot 2000 continues the high standards set by earlier versions of this award-winning software package. Recognition of SigmaPlot includes eight consecutive Reader's Choice Awards from Scientific Computing and Instrumentation (SC&I), SC&I's Top 5 Products of 1998 (data analysis category), NASA Tech Briefs Product of the Month and Computers in Physics Product of the Month.
