SigmaPlot 11.2

Introduction

SigmaPlot10

With SigmaPlot you can produce high-quality graphs without spending hours in front of a computer.

Take advantage of industry-standard menu design, menu toolbars, right mouse button support and graph preferences. Select the graph type you want to create from the Graph Toolbar's easy-to-read icons. The interactive Graph Wizard leads you through every step of graph creation. You get compelling, publication-quality charts and graphs in no time.

Origin and SigmaPlot Comparison

Origin Multi-Series Graphs

Many Origin features have been designed to allow seemless navigation and data collation across the entire project structure. One primary example and particularly popular feature, is Origin's ability to create a single graph from columns (or some column subrange) of data that exist over many workbooks and/or worksheet pages with just a couple of mouse clicks. It is easy then to create graphs comparing data that exist in various locations within the Origin project. For instance, imagine that each day for a month, a particular laboratory process produces a new worksheet with several columns of data. Origin makes it extremely convenient to make a comparison plot of, say, column #2 from each sheet, effectively comparing the same data series for each day, on a single graph.

In fact, Origin includes several options for plotting from multiple workbooks into the same graph. These include drag-and-drop, adding data through the Plot-Setup Dialog or Layer-Contents Dialog, as well as the Add-Plot-to-Layer option.

Origin Multi-Series Analysis

Analagous to the graphing example, Origin supports calculations on data over multiple workbooks and worksheets. Data in Sheet #1, Column #3 can be added row-wise to the data in Sheet #4, Column #2 without the need for moving the data around physically. This project-level support is natural and leads to an enhanced ability for users to automate their data analysis.

Organising Your Work with Origin

Origin was designed and created to be a project-level data analysis package with tools to facilitate every step of scientific workflow: data collection, storage, analysis, graphing, and reporting. Reflecting this design, the Origin workspace centers on the project file (or *.OPJ). The Origin project file structure can be organized hierarchically, utilizing a familiar folder-based system for complete user control. When new data, graphs, or reports are created or imported into a project, all are incorporated into a single cohesive project structure.

Key Origin Features

In addition to advanced support for graphing and an extremely flexible project structure, many key features distinguish Origin from competing graphing and analysis packages:
