Intel release major update to software development tools to make it easier to create, debug, and optimise parallel applications for server clusters.

The Intel Cluster Toolkit 3.0 is here with more than 20 great new features! The Intel Cluster Toolkit bundles new major versions of all Intel Cluster Tools into a single package. This multi-component software toolkit contains the core libraries and tools to efficiently develop, optimise, run, and distribute parallel applications for clusters with Intel processors.

Speed parallel-computing program development and improve performance on cluster systems with the integrated Intel Cluster Toolkit software. The Intel Cluster Toolkit delivers multiple cluster software solutions in one integrated bundle with one license, one installation, and one support service. This toolkit includes the following:

  • Intel MPI Library 3.0
  • Intel Math Kernel Library Cluster Edition (Intel MKL Cluster Edition) 9.0
  • Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector 7.0
  • Intel MPI Benchmarks 3.0
  • Compatibility with current standards and Intel tools and architecture

Intel MPI Library 3.0

Intel MPI Library delivers outstanding performance and flexibility for distributed-memory applications.

Intel Math Kernel Library Cluster Edition 9.0

Intel Math Kernel Library Cluster Edition (Intel MKL Cluster Edition) offers highly optimised, thread-safe math routines for science, engineering, and financial applications that require maximum performance. The Cluster Edition of Intel MKL includes support for ScaLAPACK and distributed memory Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT).

In this release of Intel Math Kernel Library, the focus is on providing optimised performance on the Intel Xeon processor 5100 series (formerly code-named Woodcrest) and on ensuring multithreaded performance.

Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector 7.0

Analyse, optimise, and deploy high-performance applications on Intel processor-based clusters. Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector is a must-have tool for understanding the details of complex parallel program behavior.

Intel MPI Benchmarks 3.0

Intel MPI Benchmarks—formerly known as 'Pallas MPI Benchmarks (PMB)'—is a concise, easy-to-use set of MPI benchmarks. It compares the performance of various computing platforms or MPI implementations. It checks many MPI communication patterns, automatically detects clustering, and reports intra-cluster and inter-cluster performance. The benchmarks are targeted at measuring important MPI functions.

Compatibility with current standards and Intel tools and architecture

Create parallel-computing software that has a high degree of compatibility with current standards and with Intel tools and architecture:

  • Linux functionality: Intel Cluster Toolkit supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 for Intel architecture-based clusters.
  • Intel compiler compatibility: Intel Cluster Toolkit is also compatible with the Intel Compiler 9.0 for Linux for both the C/C++ and Fortran programming interfaces on Intel processors.
