CLIMEX 3.0.2
MetManager
The Meteorological Data Manager facility: MetManager.
The MetManager program is a Microsoft Access application that can be used to store and manipulate long-term average meteorological data that is then accessible to CLIMEX through the MetManager modules.
The MetManager stores its data in Access databases with the file extension “.mm”. Each location’s data is identified by its name, longitude and latitude. The following fields are stored for each location:
- Continent - The name of the continent that the location is in.
- Country - The name of the country that the location is in.
- State - The name of the state that the location is in.
- Location Name - The name of the location
- Longitude - Longitude of the location (in degrees) (-90 to +90)
- Latitude - Latitude of the location (in degrees) (-180 to +180)
- Elevation - Elevation (altitude) of the location (in metres)
- Importance Level - An integer (0-5) that is used to select subsets of locations
- Minimum Temperature - The monthly Average Daily Minimum Temperature (12 monthly values or 52 weekly values)
- Maximum Temperature - The monthly Average Daily Maximum Temperature (12 monthly values or 52 weekly values)
- Rainfall - The monthly Total Rainfall (12 monthly values or 52 weekly values)
- 9am RH - The monthly Average Daily 9am Relative Humidity (12 monthly values or 52 weekly values)
- 3pm RH -The monthly Average Daily 3pm Relative Humidity (12 monthly values or 52 weekly values)
Several user-defined fields are also available for storing such variables as, for example, Evaporation.
The database can contain data for a large number of locations, and a mechanism for retrieving or accessing a subset of these locations has been provided. A Location Selection is the set of locations each of which satisfies a specified number of conditions (the Selection Criteria). For example, if the Selection Criteria are that (1) the Country is Australia and (2) the Latitude is less than -30º, then the Location Selection will include all the Australian locations in the database whose latitude is less than 30º. Many Selection Criteria can be defined, named and stored within the database. CLIMEX uses the resulting Location Selections as sequences.
