EViews Software Training

EViews training from Hearne is available for New, Intermediate and Advanced Users. EViews software training is ideal for analysts who work in banking, finance and macroeconomics. The material covered in these courses is coordinated with the material in the EViews 6 User’s Guides 1 and 2. Public training courses are currently scheduled for late February 2008.

The latest edition of EViews, version 6, significantly reduces the costs that organisations face when using Econometric or Time Series techniques. EViews training provides existing and new users with an opportunity to significantly improve both their understanding of what EViews can do and at the same time refresh and improve their understanding of Econometric and Time Series analysis.

The EViews 6 training is delivered by Dr. John Shannon. John has over 30 years of experience as a lecturer at Melbourne University, La Trobe University, RMIT University and the Australian Graduate School of Management. John has written workbooks, presented econometrics and time series subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has consulted in these areas to firms and government departments around Australia.

New Origin and OriginPro Software Releases

Origin 8.0 introduces a new multi-sheet workbook to facilitate the management of data, images, graphs and results.

Multi-sheet workbooks now provide a handy way to keep related data, analysis results and graphs together. Furthermore, users can create attractive reports using worksheet customisation such as rich text cell formatting and cell borders. To provide full control over workbook content, sheets can be moved, added, inserted or deleted. As a special capability, Origin’s workbooks can contain graphs and images within cells – allowing for workbooks as an organisational container, or to aid image processing.

Crystal Ball for Oil, Gas and Mining Companies

Crystal Ball software is used by the world's largest oil, gas and mining companies to analyse spreadsheet models and improve decision making. To address the financial and economic uncertainty in the global markets, these companies are increasingly using Crystal Ball for their modelling and risk analysis.

The latest release of Crystal Ball Professional includes Extreme Speed. Using Extreme Speed, simulations run 10 to 100 times faster. Extreme Speed is ideal for analysts working with large data sets. With Crystal Ball Professional, Extreme Speed and larger data sets, resource companies are transforming their Excel spreadsheet models to develop more credible risk assessments.

"The use of Monte Carlo simulation tools in the petroleum industry is now common among the more sophisticated hydrocarbon exploration and production organisations. Nexus Energy has been using Crystal Ball for probabilistic assesment of its prospect inventory, resource and reserves volumes since the company started. We enjoy unobtrusive and efficient support for Crystal Ball from Hearne Scientific Software, and look forward to continuing the relationship in the future." - Graham Bunn, Chief Petroleum Engineer, Nexus Energy Ltd.

Software Licensing Options

As a user of one of the programs which we distribute, you may want to consider or reconsider the case for moving to a site licence arrangement.

For some programs, e.g., SYSTAT, it is possible to purchase a one user floating licence. This means that anyone in the organisation can use the program, but only one user at a time can use it. Multi-user floating licences are common. For many clients of ours, this is a very cost effective arrangement, particularly, where there are a few regular users and various people who use the program only occasionally.

It is also possible to negotiate a site licence for the entire organisation at a very low cost per user. We have been organising site licences that optimise usage and cost for many organisations, from large multi-national corporations to small enterprises, for over 20 years.

At the university level, we have arranged for thousands of students and staff at department, faculty or university level to have access to site licences for various programs.

Site Licence Benefits

  • Much cheaper per head
  • Simplified purchasing and administration
  • Improved software asset management
  • Ensures all users have the latest version
  • Qualify for free technical support, updates and upgrades for the term of the licence.

You can build an outline of the details of the site licence you might have in mind on our web site, at www.hearne.com.au/licence and we will give you a cost based on your figures, or, if required we can give you a range of costs for different site licence configurations.
