A New Build of What'sBest! 9.0 Is Now Available

What’sBest! 9.0.3.0, a new build of LINDO Systems' solver add-in for Excel, is faster, more powerful, uses the latest calculation libraries and adds support for the recently released Microsoft Office 2007 as well as Microsoft Vista.

What’sBest! 9.0 is an average of 80% faster at solving linear models due to enhancements to the dual and primal simplex solvers. The barrier solver is an average of 20% faster on large scale linear and quadratic models. Enhancements to the simplex and barrier solvers also improve handling of numerically difficult problems.

The integer solver is an average of 40% faster on a wide range of integer models. It also includes a number of enhancements to more quickly find and improve integer solutions and to better exploit a wider range of problem structures.

The general nonlinear solver is an average of 25% faster on highly nonlinear and complex models. The global solver includes a number of enhancements for improving robustness on solving nonconvex nonlinear models to global optimality.

Function support has been greatly expanded with the new release. The new release adds support for all native Excel functions as well as user defined functions in Excel. Also new is the support of functions using text strings as arguments.
