NE/Nastran Version 8

NE/Nastran Version 8 is a major upgrade with extensive enhancements in nonlinear dynamics and heat transfer capability.

Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis Module Features:

  • Large Displacement/Rotation with follower forces
  • Material Nonlinearity (nonlinear elastic, elasto-plastic, thermo-elastic, temperature dependent)
  • Adaptive Contact (gap element with friction, 3-d slide line element)
  • Cable Element (supports initial slack and tension, thermal loads and temperature dependent materials, and failure)
  • Adaptive Time Stepping with automatic bisection and automatic stiffness update
  • All elements, loads, and boundary conditions supported in nonlinear static and linear transient response are supported
  • Sparse matrix methods for increased performance and reduced disk space

Nonlinear Heat Transfer Analysis Module Features:

  • Linear and Nonlinear Steady-State and Transient heat transfer solutions
  • Heat Conduction (temperature dependent conductivity, isotropic and anisotropic thermal conductivity, and time and temperature dependent internal heat generation)
  • Free Convection Boundaries (temperature dependent heat transfer coefficient)
  • Radiation to Space (temperature dependent emissivity and absorptivity)
  • Applied Heat Loads (surface normal heat flux, time dependent heat flux, and grid point nodal power)
  • Starting Temperatures for steady-state and transient analysis
  • Transient Boundary Conditions

Additional Benefits of NE/Nastran V8:

  • CPU specific versions optimized for your Pentium or Athlon processor and up to 25% faster.
  • Significantly faster performance for models with large numbers of rigid elements and multipoint constraints.
  • Bi-Directional Direct Matrix Input (DMIG) is supported in all solutions for user-defined stiffness, mass, and damping matrixes.
  • Full FEMAP® results support is now provided using optional FEMAP® standard vector ids.
  • A fully NAVSEA compliant method for modal summation is now available for response spectrum and DDAM analysis.
  • The CQC (Complete Quadratic Combination) modal summation method is now supported along with ABS, SRSS, and NRL.
  • Large field input is now supported for grid point Bulk Data entries.
