DSP Extension Library for Mathcad Users
MathSoft, the provider of the broadest line of technical design, calculation and analysis software for business and academia, today announced the release of the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Extension Library. This extensive set of wavelet, image and signal processing functions offers electrical engineers and others in the DSP field a comprehensive and economical design and analysis solution. The DSP Extension Library leverages Mathcad 2000’s superior technical design environment to provide the investigative analysis, iterative exploration and documentation capabilities that DSP engineers require in their design process.
The DSP Extension Library provides critical DSP functionality for professionals in industries such as telecommunications, controls and instrumentation, defense, multimedia, manufacturing, medicine and many others. With the DSP Extension Library, these professionals have access to a broad range of powerful DSP functions for analyzing, exploring, visualizing and manipulating signals. This comprehensive function set, along with the easy-to-use documentation, collaboration and interoperability capabilities of Mathcad 2000’s powerful technical design environment, provides the ideal DSP design environment for individuals and technical project teams.
The DSP Extension Library is composed of three new Mathcad Extension Packs: the Image Processing Extension Pack, the Wavelets Extension Pack, and the just-released third edition of the Signal Processing Extension Pack.
"DSP technology is an essential component in developing everything from desktop computers, to wireless phones, to lifesaving medical devices," said Chris Randles, senior vice president and general manager of MathSoft’s Engineering and Education Products Division. "The DSP Extension Library, when used with Mathcad 2000, combines a robust DSP function set with an integrated desktop environment that offers full technical calculation, graphical analysis, drawing and documentation capabilities, as well as seamless interoperability with other popular desktop applications. This solution streamlines the DSP design process and enhances engineers’ productivity."
The new Signal Processing Extension Pack adds significant functionality to simplify mathematics-based signal processing design. It features a comprehensive library of over 70 built-in functions, with new functionality for signal filtering, spectral analysis and estimation and time-frequency analysis. In addition, the new Signal Processing Extension Pack includes expanded online documentation with real-world examples of how to apply its extensive functionality.
The Image Processing Extension Pack, introduced in January 2000, extends Mathcad 2000 Professional’s built-in function set with a complete range of capabilities that let users analyze, manipulate, extract and identify critical image features. Designed for professionals and students across a broad range of industries, the extension pack provides over 140 imaging processing functions, making it a powerful design solution for image processing applications.
The Wavelets Extension Pack, introduced last year, delivers a high level of accuracy and data clarity by allowing users to view and explore details that other analysis techniques may miss, destroy or lose. This Extension Pack contains 60 wavelet functions covering five orthogonal and biorthogonal families, providing advanced techniques for signal reconstruction, denoising, data compression and special numerical methods.
