Commercialisation

Introduction

Hearne has the know-how to commercialise your existing research tools.

We can increase the value of your software through:

  • Testing and debugging
  • Improving the user interface
  • Branding and positioning
  • Marketing and distribution
  • After-sales support
  • Co-funding and developing additional functionality

We have had significant success commercialising research software, most notably CLIMEX and DYMEX, and AccuRate, developed in conjunction with the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation). CLIMEX alone has already been sold into over 30 countries around the world.

Hearne is currently involved with the development and distribution of many new and exciting technical software packages, including software programs from ANSTO, CSIRO, DSTO, CRC's and Universities.

Some of the best technical software in the world lies in the bowels of research institutes and universities. Adapting this software for generic use and bringing it into the open market is the process of commercialisation. We specialise in commercialising research software.

Hearne is currently involved with the development and distribution of many new and exciting research based software packages, including: DYMEX, CLIMEX, Energy Express, AQUARISK, Accurate and Intelligent Risk Exchange.

Hearne Scientific Software has successfully commercialised these products and is committed to supporting their longevity as quality software packages to be used world wide.

Currently Energy Express is available for Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines; however, interest in this product has extended to many other countries including the UK, US and France. Due to this demand, Hearne Scientific Software is working on a version that can be used worldwide and plans to release it later on in 2005. Energy Express is a program designed to assist with the construction of energy efficient buildings that has been built on a proven simulation "engine" known as BUNYIP. The system is intended for use at any stage of a building project, consistent with the appropriate data being available.

DYMEX and CLIMEX are being actively marketed by Hearne Scientific Software in Australia and overseas. Given that the developers of the software are very well known and respected in the entomology community, DYMEX and CLIMEX have quickly gained a reputation for being an essential tool for entomologists, biologists, agriculturalists and various other practitioners involved in the field of plant and animal species, climate and the environment. The software has been received with much enthusiasm and has attracted sales all over the world including the US, Africa, India, Turkey, China, Spain, Japan, and the UK.

AQUARISK is used by the IAEA to help understand the environmental impact at different project sites around the world. The IAEA is currently using the software in Bangladesh, India, Korea, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan and Malaysia.

AccuRate is a software package which functions as reference software for the house energy rating scheme and as a tool to assist in the demonstration of compliance with energy performance standards proposed for the Building Code of Australia.

IREX is a complete end-to-end, web based, Enterprise Risk Management System. The Intelligent Risk Exchange (IREX) program is an Intelligent Risk Mapping and Assessment System developed by researchers at the Co-operative Research Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems & Technologies, University of New South Wales, University of Wollongong, CSIRO's Manufacturing and Infrastructure Technology and Hawker de Havilland a Boeing company.

Hearne Scientific Software is committed to advancing these products and educating the broader market about the benefits of using these innovative and high quality software packages.

We continue to seek research software which has commercial potential. We have acquired significant skill in commercialising research software, from identifying the market potential, contributing to the look and feel of the program and its functionality, designing all aspects of branding and promoting the program worldwide.
