Company Profile

Hearne is a major distributor and developer of technical software in Australia and New Zealand. Our software partners include Oracle, IBM, Intel, PTC, OriginLab, and CSIRO.

We also provide training in the use of the major programs which we distribute, as well as a range of consulting services related to our programs. We are adept in the areas of engineering mathematics, risk management, online surveys, project management, optimisation and commercialisation of research software.

Hearne has had significant success commercialising research software, most notably CLIMEX and DYMEX, and AccuRate, developed in conjunction with the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation). CLIMEX alone has already been sold into over 30 countries around the world.

The business acquired quality assurance certification, Queensland government (GITC Agreement Q-236) and United Nations endorsed supplier certification and was awarded a number of Research and Development Start grants and Awards for exporting technical software. In 2008 a charity facility was established, whereby online purchasers are invited to select a charity to which Hearne will donate $10.

Since entering the technical software market in the early 1980's overall revenue has grown by a compound rate of about 10% per annum. Today there are over 500,000 unique visits to the Hearne web sites each month, generating about 4 million hits per month. Hearne has accumulated a massive database of technical software users in Australia and New Zealand, which lays the foundation for continued growth of the business.
