• Activating a licence

    Before you can use the software you must activate a licence.

    - Ensure that you have the product key.

     

    Note: If you have lost your product key you can retrieve it at http://analyse-it.com/support/lost-key.

     

    For concurrent-user licences, ensure that TCP port 443 (https) on the firewall is open for communication to secure.analyse-it.com on your computer. Analyse-it uses your internet connection to communicate with our license server to manage concurrent use of the software.

    1) Start Microsoft Excel to start Analyse-it.

     

    2) On the Analyse-it ribbon tab, click Analyse-it > Activate.

     

    3) Enter the Product Key and the Name, Organisation, and E-mail of the registered user of the software. The registered user may occasionally receive an e-mail with important information about updates to Analyse-it. They can opt-out via the unsubscribe link in the e-mail they receive.

     

    4) Click Activate. The software uses your internet connection to automatically verify the product key and activate the licence on your computer.

     

    5) If activation fails for any reason:

    - Click Get Activation Code. Your browser will open the manual activation page at http://analyse-it.com/activate. If your computer does not have an internet connection you can open the page on any computer or device with an internet connection.

    - On the manual activation page, enter the Product Key and Site ID as displayed in the Activate Licence window.

     

    Note: The Site ID is specific to each computer. Do not contact technical support asking for a Site ID as we cannot provide it. It is only shown on the Manual Activation dialog box.

     

    1) Enter the Name, Organisation, and E-mail of the registered user of the software.

     

    2) Click Activate. You will be provided with an activation code.

     

    3) In the Activate Licence window, enter the Activation code you received from the manual activation page.

     

    4) Click Next.

     

    5) Click Close.

     

    The licence is now activated and the software can be used on your computer.

  • Deactivating a licence

    Deactivate the licence before you move the software to a different computer.

     

    1) Start Microsoft Excel to start Analyse-it.

     

    2) On the Analyse-it ribbon tab, click Analyse-it > Deactivate.

     

    3) Click Deactivate. The software uses your internet connection to automatically deactivate the licence.

     

    4) If deactivation fails for any reason:

    - Click Deactivate to manually deactivate the licence.

    - Your browser will open the manual deactivation page at http://analyse-it.com/deactivate. If your computer does not have an internet connection you can open the page from any computer or device with an internet connection to complete the deactivation of the licence.

    - On the manual deactivation page, enter the Product Key and Site ID as displayed in theDeactivate Licence window.

    - Note: The Site ID is specific to each computer. Do not contact technical support asking for a Site ID as we cannot provide it. It is only shown on the Manual Activation dialog box.

    - Click Deactivate.

    - Click Close.

     

    The licence is now deactivated and the software can no longer be used on your computer.

  • Installing the software

    Install the software for use by all users on your computer.

     

    - Ensure that your computer meets the system requirements.

    - Ensure that you have the necessary administrative rights to install the software.

    - For concurrent-user licences, ensure that TCP port 443 (https) on the firewall is open for communication to secure.analyse-it.com on your computer. Analyse-it uses your internet connection to communicate with our license server to manage concurrent use of the software.

     

    To install the software:

    - From a downloaded .EXE file, double-click the .EXE file you downloaded.

    - From a CD-ROM, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. The installer should automatically start, but if not, click Start > Run, and then type: D:\SETUP.EXE (where D: is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive).

     

    - The Analyse-it for Microsoft Excel window is displayed. The installer will then check system requirements are met, and if necessary install Microsoft .NET 2.0.

    - Click Next.

    - Read the End-User Licence Agreement (EULA) and then:

     

    - If you agree to the terms and conditions, select I accept the terms of the License Agreement, and then click Next.

    - If you have any questions about the licence agreement, contact support@analyse-it.com. Click Cancel to abort the installation.

     

    Optional: If you want to change the installation folder, click Change and select the folder.The default installation path for the software is C:\Program Files\Analyse-it3 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Analyse-it3 depending on the operating system and Microsoft Excel version.

    - Click Next.

    - Click Install. Wait while the software is installed on to your computer.

    - Click Close.

     

    To use the software you must activate a licence.

  • System requirements

    Hardware and software requirements to run Analyse-it.

    Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

    Microsoft Excel 2007 or Excel 2010.

    Optional. Internet connection to enable automatic activation, software update checks, and feedback services. If your computer is behind a firewall ensure that TCP port 443 (https) on the firewall is open for communication to secure.analyse-it.com.

  • Transferring the software

    You can move the software to another computer, for example when you get a new computer.

     

    It is important before you move the software that you deactivate the licence on your existing computer otherwise you may be unable to activate the licence on your new computer.

     

    1) Deactivate the licence on your existing computer.

    2) Install the software on your new computer.

    3) Activate the licence on your new computer.

  • Uninstalling the software

    Uninstall the software to remove it from your computer.

     

    Note: You do not need to uninstall the software to install an update.

     

    1) Start the Windows Control Panel.

    2) Open the list of installed programs:

    3) On Windows XP, double-click Add/Remove Programs

    4) On Windows Vista and later, click Programs, and then click Programs and Features.

    5) Select Analyse-it for Microsoft Excel in the list of installed applications, and then click 6) Uninstall. Wait while the software is removed from your computer.

     

    The software is removed from your computer and the licence deactivated so you can install the software and activate the licence on another computer.

  • Updating the software

    Check that the software is up-to-date and includes all the latest features and bug-fixes (including major and minor fixes).

     

    Ensure that you have an active maintenance subscription.

     

    1) Start Microsoft Excel to start Analyse-it.

    2) On the Analyse-it ribbon tab, click Analyse-it > Check for Updates. The Check for 3) Updates window is displayed.

    4) Click Check for Updates. The software uses your internet connection to check for updates.

    5) If updates are available you will see a list of the changes made since the version you are using.

    6) Click Download and Install to download and install the update.

    7) Click Download to download the update for installation later.

    8) When installing an update do not uninstall the existing version, otherwise the licence will be deactivated and you will need to activate again.

    9) Click Close.
